Colours

Today I want to put together rooms with the most loved colour combinations. Be it on the walls, window treatments or accessories These are a few of my favourite combos

Contemporary Living Room design by Raleigh Interior Designer Heather Garrett Design

The wall colour is 'Durability' by Pratt and Lambert. I have a similar colour on my living room walls and its called ' Swan's down' and I think its by Nippon.

Here, shades of off whites, greys and browns look stunning together. Bejewelled mirror and lampshade add just the right amount of glamour.

Love to do quirky once in a while! But me thinks this only works against a black and white palette.

what soothing colours! Just the right choice for a bedroom.

Once again, base palette of creams and off whites with black and white accents. Black floors clinch the look while hints of burgundy add richness to the whole setup. Yumm!

I have been seeing a lot of these lately- black, white and yellow palettes.Textured upholstery and patterned window treatments are wow! Wall colour is somewhat similar to Valspar's 'Withered Moss'. Wall art is basically painted twigs- sold under accesories as 'Naples bowl' at Z galleries.

My favourite black, pastel turqoise and beige combo. So ethereal! Beatiful taupe and white kitchen cabinets- unusual but sleek.

Another favourite- brown and turquoise I think its Ikat on the back of the chairs Love the pattern on the dining room chair backs as well.

Another view of the same room

Can YOU do this?!

Just check out the colours! Ben Moore HC-83 and the pink is Rasberry Mousse
Leather pouf is probably by Johnathon adler

Love the soothing green on the wall- Hearts of palm by sherwin williams

Will do my favourite outdoor spaces soon! What do you think of this collection? Any personal favourites?

New buys

Bought this lovely rug from Jaypore

Didnt have the heart to use it on the floor though...The thought of shoes trampling this lovely piece of work bothers me at an organic level :P

Decided to use it as a throw...

I was like a kid on christmas day when it arrived :))

I must admit, it looked brighter on the website. I imagined it to be softer and the threads to be in silk.

It did appear dusty and weathered, especially under the warm tone lights in my house, despite the very thoughtful packaging. But I realised the wheatish background was responsible for this.

Was a tad disappointed but I really appreciate the amount of hard work and talent that has gone into making this lovely piece.

Bought these gorgeous ear rings as well - these are indeed gorgeous in real life as welll!

I was asked where I got them by almost all the women I met that day

Check out Jaypore ..they have some good stuff

( Only I wish they were paying me for saying this :))

They were framed

I have the patience of a two year old.

The art of framing has managed to highlight that yesterday.

But my love for framed art far supercedes my frustration of an imperfect job

So I toiled...

Found these lovely  paper serviettes at a stationery shop ( in Singapore!! - Indian design is indeed in!)

Dont they make a gorgeous backdrop for my Batik lady?

My doodled fish finds a sea of lotuses and marigold to swim in :)

Remnants of a Patchwork bedsheet for my new art

Can u guess what this is...

Yes! A paper plate to border my tribal man and woman
And yes you observant one, they are earrings!

This piece has been a butt of a good number of jokes from family referencing my love for Indian jewelley designs

I am not deterred

A simple frame renders the humble Kalamkari into a piece of art

Feature wall

The ugly bar cabinet that inhabits most of my living room space has been slated for dismantling ever since we laid our eyes on it when we first saw our place. The previous owner was obviously a man of the world and really enjoyed his drink. In our household, drinking is synonymous with entertaining, neither of which happens at regular intervals.
The idea is to dismantle the eye sore of a cabinet and in its place add a tidy little feature wall.  Ive been shopping around for ideas and ofcourse the friendly internet is always there to help.

I liked a few ideas...Let's see if we could agree on one :) ( Not that I can afford all of them.. but hey! who says I cant dream)

"This wall is made of hand applied real silver leaf with an antique glaze on 3/4" MDF panels. The panels are applied to the wall with finishing nails and liquid nails and the nail holes are hidden by the applied walnut moldings that are applied between the panels"
Contemporary Living Room by Miami Interior Designer Arnold Schulman Design Group

Absolutely love this idea- reminds me of cots we had at home when I was little.

Couldnt resist this one

If only...

Isnt the whole white on white gorgeous?!!

So what if I was just day dreaming? It was all worth the weight in drool..

Dream a little dream

Many years ago, I had a dream. I was in this beautiful white washed room with a large balcony facing the ocean. My bed was a soft mass of white linens. What I remembered loving the most about the dream were the billowing white tulle curtains playing peek a boo with the view outside. I decided that would be my dream house.

Even to this day, swaying palms and white curtains dancing to the evening breeze bring about such nostalgia- probably a throw back to my childhood summers!

Can you feel the gossamer breeze on your face?

The bed is winking at my groaning body saying " Try me!"

Reminds me of our make shift tents made out of bedsheets during our summer holidays

Yup! I left my heart in Bintan :)
